UK Manaphy Code leaked!

June 1st, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming

So, GAME can’t even keep the Manaphy code a secret!

For those that follow pokémon you’ll know that the UK code for Pokémon Ranger was going to be given away in a promotion at GAME stores tomorrow.

The code unlocks a secret mission called “Save the Precious Egg” which when completed gives you a Manaphy egg which you can transfer to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl when they are released in the UK on the 27th July.

Serebii.net reported the code today, go there for the full details.

The only reason to go to GAME tomorrow is if you want the chocolate pokéball and to receive the code yourself.

The process is much the same as the US code, the UK code details are as follows:

1. Go to the Ranger Net Option on the Main Screen.
2. Hold down the R Button, X and Left on the D-pad.
3. An option to “Enter A Password” will appear.
4. Access that option in the Ranger Net.
5. Enter the Password: Mg35-Cpb8-4FW8
6. The new Mission; Save the Precious Egg, should be under the special mission list.

BorisWatch, Linux, Programming and Pokémon

May 19th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Gaming

I know I’m a tad late, but I’ve just uploaded this weeks BorisWatch picture. It really is incredible how much he has grown since receiving him as a leaving present. He definitely looks as though he is ready to start taking over the planet!

The Pokémon Wiki that myself and Bocakey have started (and that you are all welcome to contribute to!) is coming along. We’ve pretty much gotten the Daily Events finished, just a few berries and items left to hoard to finish those lists and I’m just beginning to flesh out the towns. There is still a LOT to do but it’s a lot of fun. Definitely check it out!

Carrying on the subject of programming the DS, I’ve always been a Linux nut and it is the best OS for development, that’s true for GBA/PSP/DS development as well. Setting up Devkitpro under Ubuntu is a piece of cake (well it was, I’ll get to that!), just like Ubuntu really.

Using the latest Devkitpro releases caused a few issues with the latest PAlib however (but worked fine alone), so I found this simple shell script really useful, it worked first time.

I’m currently porting an old dodge the asteroids game I wrote in Pascal YEARS ago as an exercise in DS programming. Hopefully I’ll have something to show soon!

BorisWatch, Spiderman and Pokémon

May 3rd, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Gaming, General

As promised, BorisWatch is now available from the menu at the top of the page, each week I’ll post a new picture of Boris so you can see how he is growing or dying based on mine and Joanne’s green-fingery nature!

So, what else has happened? Well, I’ve played a LOT MORE Pokémon… 62+ Hours of it in fact so I’ll make a post just for my thoughts on that later.

The most important thing that has happened this week though is that we ordered our Spider-man 3 tickets which are for the first showing on Friday 4th May (Tomorrow). So I’ll be able to give my view on that too this weekend.

We Love Pokémon!

April 27th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming

Yesterday our copies of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl arrived. They arrived at 11:10am and we’ve already played them for 11 hours.

First impressions based on those 11 hours are that it is just really great. It’s easily the most polished of all the games so far. And even this early in there is still so much to do.

I’ll make some proper commentary once I’ve played it longer. For now, here is my Friend Code, let me know if you add me!

Name: Puce
Code:

Pokémon Diamond & Pearl are almost here!

April 18th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming

I admit it, I’m a Pokémon nut. Which might seem odd for a man of 27 years of age to admit but Pokémon has always had WAY more to it than it’s cute (and apparently kiddy) exterior suggests.

11 years after the series debuted in Japan we finally get a truly updated sequel.

I’m really excited about Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for a few reasons with online WiFi battling and trading, 107 new Pokémon (Why 107? Such an odd number!) and the new 3D engine in particular being the main ones.

Sadly online battling will still require Friend Codes but happily trading won’t.

That and the fact it’s still got all the great stategic and tactical gameplay that
Pokémon has always had (along with all the cute critters naturally).

I can’t wait, and our import copies can’t arrive here quick enough!

Hopefully by the end of next week….
