Oh, you rogue!

I’ve been reading and playing a lot of “roguelikes“ lately, mostly on the Nintendo DS. So I thought I’d talk about them a bit…
A roguelike, as the name suggests, is a game a bit like “rogue“. Rogue is essentially a turn-based dungeon game where the aim is to kill stuff, collect loot, and reach a [...]

Space! My First DS App!

I just thought I’d dump a picture of my crappy old “Dodge-the-Asteroids” port, it has no collision detection at the moment, but it works!
It also works on real hardware but here is a shot of it running on DeSmume.

It’s not much but it works, now…. what can my first REAL project be???

BorisWatch, Linux, Programming and Pokémon

I know I’m a tad late, but I’ve just uploaded this weeks BorisWatch picture. It really is incredible how much he has grown since receiving him as a leaving present. He definitely looks as though he is ready to start taking over the planet!
The Pokémon Wiki that myself and Bocakey have started (and that you [...]

Yay! My R4 Arrived…

I love my Nintendo DS, it might be the Phat model rather than it’s sleek and sexy newer Lite siblings but it’s been a really great machine. I also had quite a bit of fun programming for the GBA so I thought I’d finally get a flash cart for the DS to have a bash.
There [...]

We Love Pokémon!

Yesterday our copies of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl arrived. They arrived at 11:10am and we’ve already played them for 11 hours.
First impressions based on those 11 hours are that it is just really great. It’s easily the most polished of all the games so far. And even this early in there is still so much [...]

Pokémon Diamond & Pearl are almost here!

I admit it, I’m a Pokémon nut. Which might seem odd for a man of 27 years of age to admit but Pokémon has always had WAY more to it than it’s cute (and apparently kiddy) exterior suggests.
11 years after the series debuted in Japan we finally get a truly updated sequel.
I’m really excited about Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for a few reasons with online WiFi battling and trading, 107 new Pokémon (Why 107? Such an odd number!) and the new 3D engine in particular being the main ones.
Sadly online battling will still require Friend Codes but happily trading won’t.
That and the fact it’s still got all the great stategic and tactical gameplay that
Pokémon has always had [...]
