Return To Paragon City
Last week saw the release of Issue 12: Midnight Hour, the 12th free expansion for City of Heroes/Villains since it’s launch in 2004.
It’s a bit crazy that I created my account on April 29th 2004 yet I’ve only actually had an active account for just over 6 months in all that time (I know this because I got my 6 months veteran reward this past weekend, yay for Greek Alphabet Emblems).
I find this even more bizarre considering how fun I feel City of Heroes is. The actual mechanics of the game are fun and interesting, you don’t have to worry about gear as such and each class is unique and interesting.
I really love the CoH franchise, the setting is interesting (even if it IS set on and around a fictional Rhode Island). The whole superhero angle is genuinely unique and fun to play. The only thing I can really think of to explain why I’ve got so little actual playtime is the usual excuse of mine. I am fickle and get distracted by shiny things quite often.
Anyway, I got back into it this past weekend, thanks to the free re-activation weekend. I’ve been levelling my Fire/Fire Blaster Cinder Scorcher up and running her through the Midnighter’s mission arc. There is still a LOT of content I haven’t seen yet, I don’t even have a character at max level yet.
My highest character, Daemonstorm, a katana/regeneration scrapper is level 36 but he became a bit dull to play, especially solo. He doesn’t quite do the damage I want him to and I can’t really afford to refit all his powers yet. So he is sat languishing.
Anyway, I’ll be sure to post more about my CoH adventures soon
