My Thoughts on Gamerscore
I said in a previous post I’d give my thoughts on the whole Gamerscore/Achievements system on the Xbox 360 so here they come…
First, a little description for those who have no clue what the Gamerscore/Achievements system is. When you turn on your Xbox 360 you have to sign in by choosing a user profile, one of the elements of your profile is your “Gamercard”. This gamercard stores information like your “Gamertag” which is essentially just your Nickname, your “Gamerscore” which relates to achievements which I’m just coming to and your rating which is a 5-star rating which gets adjusted as people rate you online.
This information is accessible from the web, so you can view your “Gamercard” online and more importantly, so can other people.
Achievements are awarding for achieving (hence the name) various conditions in Xbox 360 games, each one rewarding you with a certain amount of “Gamerscore” points. Typically you receive more points the harder a certain achievement is to attain. Each retail game has 1000 points worth of achievements while Xbox Live Arcade titles have 200 points worth. A game can have extra points (up to 250) to unlock through Downloadable Content (DLC).
So, now you know what these things are, what do I think about the system? More »
