Angelikuh = Level 70 and Diablo 3

June 28th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming, wow

70DingAngelikuh Yesterday I dinged 70 on my Tauren druid Angelikuh, after just under 10 days of /played time over 3 weeks exactly of real time. I now face the task of levelling her professions and getting geared up.

I’m going to be taking Alchemy as a primary profession although I’m still not certain what else to take. It’s a toss-up between Jewelcrafting and Engineering at the moment.

Other than that I’m planning on getting her Cooking/First Aid and Fishing skills to 375 as well as start doing PvP for marks and honour.

In other news, Blizzard’s World Wide Invitational weekend started today with the not-quite-a-surprise announcement of Diablo 3 which honestly looks fantastic, Diablo 2 in 3D with awesome physics. The first Dev panel spoke a bit about class balance and changes coming to WoW in Wrath of the Lich King.

The thing that most interested me was the revamping of the hunter pet system, ditching the current points based skills and replacing them with dedicated utility, tank and dps talent trees.

That has the potential to be REALLY great. I’m interested in seeing what Blizzard plans with those.

Other minor but interesting changes mentioned were Sap now working on pretty much anything except elementals, Entangled Roots now working indoors along with a few interesting new spells and talents like the warrior talent, Titan Grip which allows the warrior to dual wield 2-handed weapons.

Hopefully as the day progresses we’ll get more insight into plans for WotLK, but I imagine the bulk of that will come in tomorrow’s raid and PvP panels.

Almost There!

June 25th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming, wow

I’m still slowly working my way towards that mythical level 70. Angelikuh is currently 65% of the way through level 67 so she should make good progress towards 69 when the servers come back up.

I’ve seen a few more instances this time thanks to the folk in the small but friendly guild I’m in, I did my first ever Old Hillsbrad Foothills run and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m soon to come up against a bit of a quandary though. As a druid I can perform well as a tank, as a healer and as melee or ranged DPS (Damage Dealer).

Doing all of those requires at least 3 sets of gear, and to perform each function properly requires respeccing my talents to suit the task. (Going full restoration for healing etc.)

The main problem comes from my lack of experience in tanking and healing. I decided to go Feral DPS while levelling for efficiency and have done some limited healing in Hellfire Ramparts and tanked the trash and first two bosses in Slave Pens without changing spec just changing gear to suit.

That alone isn’t enough “experience” to confidently volunteer to tank or heal anything, so I’m not too sure how to get the experience without jeopardising whichever group I’m with, especially because people in PUGs tend to just leave after a wipe.

That combined with the looming need to collect 3+ sets of gear is starting to get a bit worrying… I should be okay to start with mostly PvP and Crafted gear though I think.

I’m looking at getting these items from PvP first now that Season 2 gear is available for honour:

[Merciless Gladiator's Dragonhide Helm] - Gemmed for Agility
[Merciless Gladiator's Dragonhide Spaulders] - Gemmed for Stamina
[Merciless Gladiator's Dragonhide Tunic] - Gemmed for Agility and Stamina
[Merciless Gladiator's Dragonhide Gloves]
[Vindicator's Dragonhide Boots]
[Vindicator's Dragonhide Belt]
[Vindicator's Dragonhide Bracers] - Gemmed for Stamina
[Merciless Gladiator's Maul]

I also plan on getting these:

[Bogstrok Scale Cloak] - From Rokmar the Crackler in Slave Pens
[Heavy Clefthoof Leggings] - From my favourite Leatherworker ^_^

Hopefully I won’t need all those PvP pieces as I’ll get better ones from instances, but we shall see, I have to get to 70 first…

Outlandish

June 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming, wow

TimeTo58Well, I made it to Outland in record quick time. I’ve reached level 58 in just under 5 days with Joanne’s help.

WoWScrnShot_061708_141311Thankfully, this now means Joanne can go and play how she wants instead of dedicating her game time to powering me through quests. Many thanks to her for getting me back into the game quickly and efficiently, she’s a star!

I must admit, I’ve REALLY enjoyed playing Angelikuh, my sexy Tauren druid. She’s my first ever Horde character and overall it’s been more enjoyable so far than my many Alliance characters.

She’s also the first of my many attempted druids to get past level 33… let’s hope she gets to 70!

Repeating Cycle

June 14th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming, wow

Angelikuh and Krugash hanging out at the Brill Zeppelin TowerJust to let you know, I AM still alive. I’ve started playing World of Warcraft, again.

Watching Joanne running instances made me want to play again. For reasons only known to Blizzard, my previous account has been “Frozen”, I’ve had no explanation or correspondence regarding it at all which I’m a bit mad about but I presume it’s related to when my account was hacked a few months back.

Anyhow, mourning the loss of Twigleaf and her many “alt” friends I went to the newly opened Gamestation in town and bought afresh copy of WoW and the expansion.

With Joanne’s help I’ve so far reached level 50 on my new character Angelikuh in just under 4 days of actual playtime. That’s over 7 days of REAL time.

The plan so far is to reach level 58 by Monday so I can enter Outland. Angelikuh is my first Druid to get past level 33 and I’m really enjoying playing her.

City of Heroes Progress…

June 2nd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming

PortalI’ve decided to stop bitting and bobbing between characters and just focus on one until they hit level 50. The lucky lady is Cinder Scorcher, my Fire Blast/Fire Manipulation Blaster Blaster.

She is currently at level 26 after working her way through to Talos Island, at the moment she is just being introduced to the shadowy and secretive Ouroboros group.

Other than that she has been attempting to craft enhancements for her powers, somewhat unsuccessfully, although she is improving. Maybe she’ll get that Field Crafter accolade one day…

She is a blast to play, she causes a lot of burst damage but suffers with a lack of sustained damage. I’ll post more as I progress.
