About Addon Corner

January 26th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Asides

You may have noticed I haven’t done an Addon Corner for awhile, I’m currently planning on bringing it back in a new video podcast style so you can actually see the addons in use. This will kind of be a trial run for me to see how feasible doing a full on podcast is.

Life on a PvP Server

January 26th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in wow

Twigleaf, my hunter is currently level 55 and on the home stretch to 58 to enter Outland. I hope to reach that mystical level by the end of Sunday night, fingers crossed.

Both Twigleaf and Olyk had some help yesterday from our good friend Yxia who helped us to 3-man Sunken Temple. So far our group of three has managed to 3-man all the instances we’ve been in, which I think is a pretty good achievement. Especially as finding a full 5-man group is pretty hard for pre-Azerothian instances.

The last few levels have been interesting as we’ve hit a lot more Horde activity than we ever did up to this point. Un’Goro Crater in particular has been a nightmare, in particular the “Chasing A-Me 01″ quest chain. We had to just abandon the escort part of the quest numerous times due to the amount of Horde. Still, I’m pretty confident we can get to 58 by Sunday night.

No more Ghost Wolf for Hunters shock! (or, you want to be different?)

January 16th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in wow

If you browse any WoW blogs or news sites you’ll have no doubt seen that Blizzard have applied a hotfix that prevents hunters from taming the Grimtotem Spirit Guide.

Here is an excerpt of Drysc’s post explaining why they hotfixed it:

The removal of the spirit guide has been debated within design discussions for a while now as to what impact the pet and its precedent has on the game.
The unintended nature of the taming, the undead status of the guide, appearance of the wolf in relation to the feel of the hunter class, and the complex processes of taming were all issues touched upon and discussed.

And here is what Issuntril said originally way back at the end of November:

While this feature of the Grimtotem Spirit Guide wasn’t exactly intended, it was agreed by the development team that this is a fun use of in-game mechanics, and we therefore have no plans to address this issue - it will still be possible in future for everyone who wishes to tame this NPC to do so.

So, what do I think? Well let me first give a recap of what you actually had to do to tame the Grimtotem Spirit Guide along with how much it would cost.

Choosing your class…

January 16th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in wow

As you know both myself and Joanne have rolled new characters on a PvP server (Burning Steppes-EU). I am currently playing a hunter, a class that seems to be called “EZ Mode” by the community as a whole. I guess the logic is that you have a pet which for the most part doubles like another player, but then so does a Warlock so I’m not sure the stigma is totally fair.

Anyway, as well as my hunter, Twigleaf, who is currently level 42, I have a whole bundle of other characters at varying stages between levels 1 - 20.

Originally I created an alt when Joanne was first being corpse-camped, to play when I was being in that situation. This ended up with me creating a few others. Rougequen (Lvl 20 Rogue), Shammyquen (Lvl 17 Shaman), Pallyquen (Lvl 6 Paladin) and Priestyquen (Level 6 Priest). Original names right!

Site Thoughts!

January 9th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in General

Here we are, over a week into 2008 and I’m quiet… too quiet…

Nah, I’ve just been reflecting. I’ve been giving the site a lot of thought recently. The end of last year had some interesting events, like starting a guild (which didn’t actually get a mention on the blog) but then basically having it ruined by thieving kids. Both myself and the other half, Bocakey, uh Joanne, decided to join a PvP server (as the guild drama annoyed us a bit), I’ll mention that in another post.

WoW takes up pretty much the majority of our free time these days, that’s not to say we don’t do other things because we do, but WoW is our way of relaxing, winding down and doing something fun together. Whether that be torturing beggars or running instances depends both on mood and time…. ^_^

Now, about the site!
