No Worms HD… Yet!

I’m a big Worms fan, ever since the original Worms game back in 1995! (is it really 12 years ago!!!)

It’s combination of humour and strategy always appealed to me and many many more fans, so much so that Worms: Armageddon is still getting new features and patches Officially and that game is 9 years old!

Team17 announced awhile back that there would be a Worms title headed for the Xbox Live Arcade and although it was never given a title it was often called Worms HD. Because the game was officially shown at CES’07, minus the HD in the title, people wrongly assumed it was coming out that week but we do know that the game has been in Microsoft’s hands for a few weeks now for certification.

The game has a lot in common with the Nintendo DS and PSP versions of Worms: Open Warfare with a reduced set of weapons and a design to make it more pick-up-and-play than previous titles. It will support voice chat as well as the usual single and multiplayer modes, with multiplayer having both offline and online play via Xbox Live.

As you can see, it looks REALLY nice, it keeps the style of previous 2D Worms games but improves on them.

Microsoft, PLEASE, PLEASE, get it out of certification and onto the Live Arcade sharpish!
People need their Worms fix, I know I do…

Current rumour suggests a February release with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night shortly afterwards! Yummy!

New Theme Progress Report…. 1!

The new theme I’m working on for Pucechan.co.uk (which is now it’s official name) is going to be a single column theme. This is primarily because I want the site to have a simple feel to it.

I plan on leveraging some Web 2.0 fanciness though. I intend to use Javascript to have a “shelf” drop-down with access to the categories, pages and search functionality of Wordpress. I will probably end up using the excellent JQuery for this as I’m still a Javascript novice.

Hopefully using this “shelf” to house all the non-essential blog stuff will keep the theme looking lean.

I’m also working on a Wordpress Widget plugin to show both XFire and Xbox Live statistics. This will use the great X-FirePHP script and the PHP Gamercard Extractor script to pull the relevant information.

I’m not sure exactly where in my theme I’ll place that info, but I’m sure I’ll find somewhere…

All that ends has a beginning!

And so, pucechan.co.uk is born phoenix-like from the ashes!

It was the very first domain I registered almost 10 years ago, so it seems fitting that I start 2007 re-registering it as I start afresh. My last domain, binarysoup.co.uk now points to this one, but will at some point be brought back to life as it’s own thing!

So… why the new beginning? It’s quite simple really, my previous hosts ClickHOST had become unreliable and caused a lot of issues. Because of that I decided to jump ship and join a UK-based host, EVOHosting. Whether that was a good thing or not we shall soon find out!

Because of the change of host, I decided to get pucechan.co.uk back and then go the whole hog and completely start from scratch.

So, what will pucechan.co.uk be about?

Basically, it’s my personal blog, as before it will have a technological/gaming vibe to it but it’ll house my thoughts and views on a variety of subjects. Hopefully in a more laid-back, fun and informal way than I managed at BinarySoup.

As for the name, I’ve not really come up with one yet, the change of hosts was rather sudden so it was very spur of the moment. If anyone has any ideas to replace “Pucechan’s World” please comment!!!

The look and feel of this page is completely temporary, I’m using the quite nice SweetBuzz Green Theme by Darjan Panic for WordPress while I work on my own.

I’ll no doubt be talking about my thoughts and ideas for the theme over the coming few weeks.

BinarySoup as it existed is no more, I’ll make a post explaining what’s happening over the next few days.

This has been a bit of a rush, hence why everything is very rough-looking. It won’t look like this for long!
